Pierian Mountains

Pierian Mountains, a continuation of the Olympus ridge, is a natural border between the Prefectures of Kozani, Imathia and Pieria. The highest peak of the range is Flabouro at an altitude of 2.188m. It receives lots of snow in winter and in the beginning of spring.

Pieria Mountains are famous for their rich flora and mainly for the deciduous forests, as well as some rare wild flower species. Their fauna consists of common mammals, birds, reptiles and insects. It has been included in the European environmental network NATURA 2000, in order to enjoy suitable protection.

Traditional settlements with particular architectural characteristics such as Skoteina (Morna), Milia, Elatochori and many more are scattered on the Pieria, providing the visitor with the opportunity to tour in routes of particular natural beauty.
